The Invisible Cloak is written and illustrated by Lainey C.B
The first draft of this story was written in 2019 — a short story that ended with the main character collapsing in the middle of a forest and being swallowed up by the cloak. Grim, yes. Lainey’s sibling, who was the only one to read that version, gave the most obvious feedback: "Children's books need a happy ending." Lainey’s initial thought was, Life doesn’t have a happy ending, and kids probably need to learn that sooner or later. But then Lainey met a few people whose kindness and compassion showed her a different truth: Life may not have happy endings, but it has pockets of happiness that you can carry with you through the darker days.
